to be honest i did nothing different that i could think of. just right click send to blue tooth device picked my phone.. i did use a smaller file though. and had some trouble with bigger ones still
If you have XP and bluetooth dongle you are in business. Follow the instructions at the beginning of this post.
i just registered to say THANK YOU! i traded in my sidekick 2 for an a630 a couple days ago, and i was having all kinds of problems trying to transfer files from my dell inspiron 6000 with bluetooth. i tried several versions/upgrades for phonetools, but i could not get it to recognize my phone. in any event, your method worked like a charm, and i now have all my favorite ringtones and wallpapers which is something i never had with the sidekick. just wanted to add that my inspiron with xp sp2 does not have 'bluetooth devices' in the control panel under either the standard or catagorized view, nor is it listed under accessories > communications. nevertheless, when i right click on a file the 'to bluetooth...' option is listed. also, when i send an mp3 to the phone, i do not get asked if i want to accept the transfer. it just accepts the mp3 and it shows up under sounds. when i send a wallpaper, it does ask for confirmation. edit: i also have to restart my phone occasionally for transfers to work. if a file won't send, turn your phone off and power it back up.
Glad to hear another success story. I overlooked the fact that some laptops have the bluetooth device built in and don't need the dongle.
VWrpm..... Hey I just wanted to say thanks!! I had a little trouble at first with the "FTP CONNECTION FAILED" message. But after toying around with it I got it to work. I had to pair up my phone and PC a second time. Its working perfectly now. Thanks again!
I wish I knew what causes the "FTP connection" so I could warn of how to avoid it. Somehow I never got that problem, but it seems that it happens easily. Glad to hear you like the bluetooth alternative.
back to the hard times cafe for me.. the phone connects I can open the hands free gateway and that stuff but i try to do the file transfer and it sits for a while and then it says error establishing connection. and its pissin me off!
well after some reconnect and restarts got it back goin smoothly.. just seems that its a bit touchy. I used audacity and with a plugin for it, it will export it as a mp3 itself. Works nicely and very easy to learn.
I have the motorola v710 and I can't seem to get past the ftp connection failure. Any thoughts or advice on it?
Try pairing up you pc and phone again you will probably have to remove the first "pair up" from your phone and pc. Hope this helps.....
