Using Nero 7 Premium to burn a downloaded movie onto DVD

Okay, first of all, I scanned previous threads and did not find exactly my problem. Which means everyone is smarter than me. And the people who do post helping threads should be on salary because they are so accomodating. I hope someone can guide me here. Okay, I am running nero 7 premium and my dilemma is with downloaded movies. Let me just say what I have been doing: I have been using Nerovision to transcode the file and at average quality, it usually fits on the disk, unless the movie is over 2 hours long. But, I would like to be using high quality. This does, of course, increase the size dramatically and but it well over the disk size. My question, can I just use Nero Recode to shrink this down to a more managable size, once the transcoding is complete? If so, which mode? "Recode Main Movie"? And which is better for burning (in my case) Burning Rom, or Nero Express?

I'd appreciate any and all assistance.

and like that wasn't enough blather...here's more. Nerovision is obviously my biggest issue, and very necessary as I am not starting with a VIDEO_TS folder, but a single avi, mpeg-3/4, mov, etc file. So, in Nerovision, there are so many options, I just get overwhelmed as to what to choose. Smart encoding:eek:n/off/auto?. Quality setting...obviously fit-to-disc will work, but high quality is what I'm shooting for (thus increasing the file size, but can I not use Recode to then reduce it?), sample format?, encoding mode? audio format..is it best to stick with LCPM? Yes, to answer the coming question, have I read the manual (cause even I will admit that it looks like I haven't) but these small details are not broken down. Was there possibly "Using Nero for Complete Idiots" ever published?

Well, to the person/people who wades through all this confusion and throws me a flotation device, well, great karma for you.

    Thanks again.

Well, the reason you don't see any mention of
is because it is against the forum rules. Mods will ban people for breaking the rules.
    directly from dRD.

Thank you, User blivetNC, for your input. I guess you are assuming I didn't read the rules of this forum. Particularily #5 banning talk of pirated materials? The movies I download are not pirated but from a Dutch website to which I subscribe and pay 300 dollars a year to legally download the European movies I choose.

Moderators, do not freeze my account here. I am a police officer and know I am doing nothing outside of the law. Just simply requesting assistance on this small matter.

    Thank you again.

Answer: Yes... always use "High Quality + 2PASS VBR + Dolby Digital 5.1" for the audio. If once it's finished and the size is somewhat over the size of a DVD-R or DVD+R, then simply use Nero Recode to transcode the movie.
    - At Nero Recode, use the MORE tab and apply/check on "Assign Best Quality to Main Movie"
    - before backup or transcode, check/tick on "Advanced Analysis + HQSR"

As for burning, which one is better, Nero Burning Rom or Nero Express? Well, honestly, it's just a preference that's all. Basically, they're both great in their own unique way. Me, I prefer Nero Burning Rom.
