    Hello all,

I have two working video files that I am attempting to join with 'VirtualDub' but with no luck...

    1.
    Audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3, 48000Hz 126 kb/s tot, Joint Stereo LAME3.90.
    Video: XviD 1.1.2 Final
    2.
    Audio: MPEG-1 Layer 3, 48000Hz 126 kb/s tot, Joint Stereo
    Video: XviD 1.1.2 Final

I keep receiving a Variable Bit Rate Error. I have attempted to re-encode the two file using 'River Past' (LAME/XviD), but the encoding process keep cutting off once I start it.

Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?

    Thanks in advance.

hai to all, i'm new to this forum. i 've a problem that seems to be no solutions is better after trying lot. vbr! i downloaded some movies that had vbr error and Packed Bitstream detected! and so, while my file is opened with avidemux(it's power full tool for avi files). i tried to fix all problems. but it compress the movie file not well because some movies are 1.5 gb and more. i used lots of tool, vitual dub and virtual tub mod and others. but virtual makes me angry, because it makes file size much higher than original size. so guys! i wanna tool that 'll fix all avi file errors (because after burning with this errors, audio-video mismatch occurred)and should compress to below 700mb. plesae suggest me

when you save file in virtualdubmod make sure you save as the XVID codec you need to change it as default isnt XVID (compressed) then size will be simarlar.

does audio/video go out when you first get the avi? or after converting to dvd?

AVIMUX GUI is good for correcting audio sync

thank you Rotary! for responding me. but i dont understand properly. if i extract video from one compressed avi file (by using virtual dub,), video size is beyond the limit. it goes up to 1GB. but i dont know how should i save an movie file to xvid codec formate. but not in full processing mode. full processing mode means compression. it takes much time. i dont need compression. i 've to just extract a video file only from 600mb movie. i usually save like
    video---------- direct stream copy
file--- save as --- name of the file. simply!

is there any other way to follow? and please tell me that which setting of xvid codec is best to get good quality plus under 700MB file size. please it's messing me for a long time. make me clear please!

I'm not clear what the problem is that you are running into with this file.
Does the downloaded AVI have a sync problem?

AVIDemux will unpack the the video without encoding.
The VBR can be converted to CBR and the file saved with little change in file size - but if it was out of sync before, it still will be out of sync after..

What steps are you going through in VirtualDub with this file.
It starts at 600MB and when saved is 1GB.

    Quick response! Ratar…. Appreciated.
Simply, draged the file and dropped on virual dub and no audio in audio setting and direct to copy in video setting and save as avi. That’s it a way I use to extract a video from avi, trust me really it goes up. I think it decompresses the file and I’m blank of that what it does with that file. I found the same question in some other forum. But no answers, ratar…

I can't duplicate that behavior - the output file is always smaller.

Try AVIMux GUI, see if it makes a difference.
Drag the AVI into the window.
Highlight the file and press the 'Generate data source..' button.
    Select 'No Audio' and 'Start'.
