    Hello,
I'm courious if anyone knows if you can retain the digital 5.1 part of a DVD after converting to vcd? And if so what program do you need to do it.

    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

Nope, VCD doesn't support anything else except MPEG-1 audio layer II (.mp2) stereo/mono audio.

SVCD supports MPEG5.1, not AC3.. Problem is that MPEG5.1 is supported only by handful of DVD players.
