vcd playback

    ok i got this movie and changed it from avi to mpeg as always.It's a screener so it's very clear.The problem is that when i play it in the dvd player(apex newest one)it plays fine,then all of a sudden it looks as though someone hit fast forward...then the sound goes out of wack.The original has no bad frames or anything.I'm wondering if anyone knows about this problem.I have never come across this before.

    I had a similar thing with an SVCD disc when I lowered the VBR to around 1Mbps (I think). Basically the bitrate was too low for the DVD player's decoder (vddv av-300) and what happened was that the audio would start to lag, then suddenly jump in sync with the video with a 'click' noise. I stopped pushing the VBR so low on my SVCDs. May not be relavant to your problem since you must be using CBR (VCD)...
