Very Inexpensive Budget System

    They're called Allendales, but they're actually Conroes with 2MB of L2 Cache disabled, the genuine allendales (E4xxx) never had it to start with.

    Oh I knew that the B2 stepping was Conroe. It's just that on this page here it mentions the L2 stepping being Allendale. I guess I might just be putting too much trust in wikipedia.

    I'm not well up on steppings, I just know that although E6300s and E6400s were badged as 'Allendale' they were effectively still Conroes.

    Yeah I noticed at first every one was calling them Allendales, and I was thinking aren't they Conroes? Anyway has anybody seen any review on the new Celerons?

    50 bucks for the new celerons is a good price. You can find one here. You can also see how well it overclock and how well it stacks up against other processors here.

    The stock performance doesn't seem to be too great, but I'm sure they overclock like words I shouldn't use on this forum.
