Very stupid question- Dvd-R size

    Why is it that dvd-r's only have 4.36g of space, when the drives all state 4.7g's. Is the difference used to finalize the disc, or is it just a limitation of the recordable version of dvds. Thanks!

    This is normal. The number specified is not using computer units:

    4700000000 / 1024 /1024 /1024 = 4.36GB.
