    Hello people!

I am trying to figure out how to do this but I am a bit thick with this stuff! I have only one old video I want to convert to DVD. What I have is my old VHS player, a DVD recorder and one of those cables with the the red/White/yellow plugs on each end which fits both devices. Is this all I need to perform the conversion? If I plug the VHS player and DVD recorder together and hit play on the VHS player, will it automatically appear on my TV?...and I just need to hit record on my DVD player/recorder? Or is there more to it then that? Apologies if this has already been asked. I did have a look at a few threads but it wasn't clear to me. Perhaps somebody could direct me to the appropriate thread?

    Many thanks

    Jimmy

On the VCR, connect the video/audio output to the video/audio input of the DVDR.

Connect the TV to the video/audio output of the DVDR

    Start the tape playing

Set the DVDR, using the remote, for the input setting (perhaps video 1 or Video 2).

Do the same for the TV until you see the movie playing.

Rewind the tape, insert a disk and press the Record button for the DVDR and the Play button on the VCR.

Generally, pressing 'Rec' on the DVDR remote, defaults to the two hour setting.
If the tape is longer you either set the DVDR for extended play or pause the VCR and insert a new disk to continue - you can set the DVDR for extended recording, but the quality suffers.
