VHS to DVD

    Sorry if I am in the wrong place (forum).
    I want to copy my vhs movies to my PC so I can then burn them to DVD.
    I know there is some sought of gadget which sits inline between a VHS player and your PC which converts the VHS format to DVD format.
    Can anyone enlighten me on what these gadgets are called so that I can do some hunting for them.
