Can anybody tell me whether it's possible to capture video/stills from a VCR/analogue camcorder - using a standard video card?

I saw a link once for software that allows you to do this (?). I think it was called "AVI-2.5 Kit" or something like that.

    Any ideas?

Sorry, not possible. You need to have input for your video anyway -- either through USB/FireWire/SCSI/etc from digital camcorder or through video capture card from analog (or digital, obviously) source.
