I am considering buying a Compaq Presario V6000T that I have found at a relatively cheap price.
    Here are the specs:
    • Genuine Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit)
    • Intel(R) Core(TM) 2 Duo T7200(2.00GHz/2MB L2Cache)
    • 15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen (1280x800)
    • 2GB DDR2 System Memory (2 Dimm)
    • Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 w/Ports
    • Imprint Finish + Microphone + QuickPlay
    • Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network w/Bluetooth
    • 160GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
    • LightScribe Super Multi 8X DVD+/-RW w/Double Layer
    • 12 Cell Lithium Battery
All right the price for this laptop is about $800.

I have a question, will the Intel(R) Graphics Media Accelerator 950 run the game counterstrike source. If so… at around what fps? And it says w/ports does that mean I can upgrade th

I think it should, CSS doesnt require a real good graphics card, since the graphics arent very demanding, compared to games like Battlefield 2 and BF2142. (My opinion)

You could probably run it on low-medium with about 20-35 fps.

Actually I don't think you can run it at all. I could be doing something wrong, but when I installed it and tried to run it with nearly the exact same specs, it wouldn't let me run and gave some kind of an error message. But to tell you the truth I highly doubt it's a hardware issue. I think it is just incompatible with vista.

wow, I thought any decent system could run css... My cousin plays it alot, and I've seen the graphics, and they are that good, as I said before. I dont have the game though, so I'm not really sure if it would or wouldnt work on a lower end system.

I have the same computer. cheap, runs ok.

as for not being able to play counterstrike, vista sucks.
you can start the program by right clicking on it and selecting "run as administrator".

i play wow and have to start it that way, otherwise i get a lot of error messages and it wont start or download patches.

as for the video card quality..ehh...its playable. i can play wow on it, but my screen cuts out every ten minutes or so for about half a sec, the computer cant handle the graphics, but its still playable, i usually run at 18-28 fps. as for counterstrike, its should be fine.
