Well maybe it's just me. I run 1024 x 768 on all my desktops. So 1024 for a picture on the post becomes too long because they have to provide room on the side for the side scroll bar. Maybe 900 would be better - we, meaning estuansis and I, so far have been throwing up 800 wide for the forum. (other thread)

Oh, well I just grabbed a steam radiator and headed down to the basement in wait. I tried it earlier but with just the radiator that was there, then after every shot as I grabbed the first radiator by mistake I often grabbed a little piece of a broken box which had zero effect on the Hunter - he wasn't amused. After dying several painful deaths, I said "Hell with it, haul some more radiators down there and grab throw, grab throw. They go down fast. How'd you do it with the two of them?

Use the same radiator a few times for the first. The other took a grenade and a clip of machine gun...

Well it's one thing to run 2560x1600 for a game, but don't tell me you run that on your desktop!! LOL

I just looked at AOL and I see I have a horizontal scroll bar and I'm full-screen. So the rest of the world is running what - 1280? Maybe I should adapt to the times. :p

Anyway, I suppose it's well past midnight over there, since it's after 6:00pm here. You got the shot, and I really think it's an absolute beauty. The full effect won't be there at 800 wide - maybe I'll check with everybody and see what size desktops they're running, if everybody's at 1280 then that's what I'll have to do too. Lol

So thanks Sam, maybe tomorrow's little project will be to post the comparisons on the graphics thread, at 800 wide for now, but also with a link to the full-size. Just waiting for estuansis' 1920x1200. We're going to have that potential cropping issue also when he gets his wide angle shot, since mine is 4x3 at 1600x1200, and the 1280x1024 that he took likewise is not a wide angle.

So maybe after posting 800 wide as they are, maybe your and his wide angle should be cropped like we just did with the big view at the end of Under the Radar. (I have to go back to the other thread and edit all my posts where I had the two chapters confused when I meant to say Riding Shotgun.) When all the wide angles are cropped, and dropped to 800 wide, then all the parts of the shots will be sized the same, and we can focus in on picture quality and detail - right? See you, Rich

Oh for crying out loud. How can you see those icons? That is a monstrous desktop.

I'm ashamed to post a picture of mine at 1024x768. Hey everybody out there - what horizontal are you guys running on your 4/3 desktops. I've been running 1024 for years but I see that AOL full screen has a scroll bar, which tells me that I should be at least at 1280 I guess. Sam can run a window with all of AOL in a little corner of his screen - well just kidding it would take about 1/3 the screen I guess LOL Here's sam's desktop shrunk to 1024 wide:

Well, I can't see them in that shrunk version, but of course with that much screen space, they're normal size!

    ebay Motors: Toyota, Abuzar?

I decided to do this for a laugh. This is 8 simultaneous simpsons episodes all showing their respective couch gags. They are all running at full rip resolution (512x384)

Unfortunately, you can't printscreen an active 3D render window, so one of them had to come up blank, which is a pity, but until I find a proper screengrabber program, this will have to do.

More results tables for those interested. This time comparing the best of the best single card, an overclocked GTX280, to the best value performance set, a pair of HD4850s.

    Call of Duty 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 67fps, HD4850CF - 73fps
    GRiD 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 50fps, HD4850CF - 31fps
    World in Conflict 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 42fps, HD4850CF - 42fps
    Rainbow Six Vegas 2 2560x1600-0xAA: GTX280 - 70fps, HD4850CF - 74fps
    Half Life 2 Episode Two 2560x1600-8xAA: GTX280 - 67fps, HD4850CF - 83fps
    Oblivion 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 79fps, HD4850CF - 94fps
    Assassin's Creed 2560x1600-0xAA: GTX280 - 51fps, HD4850CF - 50fps
    Assassin's Creed 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 39fps, HD4850CF - 51fps (different game section to above test)
    Enemy Territory: Quake Wars 2560x1600-4xAA: GTX280 - 74fps, HD4850CF - 87fps

    GRiD 1920x1200-4xAA: GTX280 - 72fps, HD4850CF - 105fps
    Lost Planet Colonies 1920x1200-0xAA: GTX280 - 76fps, HD4850CF - 55fps
    Crysis 1920x1200-0xAA Hi: GTX280 - 30fps, HD4850CF - 29fps
    Crysis 1920x1200-0xAA VH: GTX280 - 20fps, HD4850CF - 22fps

Shaff: Not using Vista, I wouldn't know. VLC can capture screens of one specific video, but not a printscreen with the desktop and the screen simultaneously.

    £220 vs £20 aswell.

id takethe 4850s in a heartbeat, IF i had the mobo. oh and id choose the HIS ones, so for about £270v£270 id choose the 4850 still.

and you cant SLI ont he x38/x48 for upgrade puropses down the line, and you can pair the 4850 with a 4870 later on or an X2 SO another reason for the CF 4850s

BUT the X58 will support SLI, withthe nforce 200 chip, BUT only if a mobo maker, (IE GB or ASUS or DFI ETC wants it)

    still CF 4850s FTW

Wow Sam another brilliant performance comparison! This also gets copied and pasted to my upgrade text file:

Shaff agrees - cf 4850. What's your take on it abuzar, do you agree too?

You crack me up, sam - 8 simultaneous Simpson episodes!! Well why not since you're running a desktop as big as a movie theater!

Hey boozer, that is truly a beautiful screen you're running. I know that shaff knows what you've written on the screen but enlighten the rest of us, please. What is the language, Urdu?, and what do the characters mean?

Car dealership! Eagle-eyes sam doesn't miss anything - does everybody see why sam insists on the best graphics quality? Well, with a Toyota dealership, I bet your dad's going to try to entice you to drive some sporty model from the lot, instead of taking your life in your hands on that rocket-fast Yamaha, lol. Also what resolution are you running on your desktop?

More great info from Sam - "samandtech" as he's known :)

Allah! Allah Akhbar!! (Did I mess up the spelling on that, boozer? It's ok for me, a non-muslim - to say Allah Akhbar, right? Or not?)

Ok with abuzar weighing in, we're all agreed on CF4850 - Yeah!

Help! I want to go cheeeeepppppeeee but I don't want to get screwed :(

Sam does not want me to buy the 3850 agp sapphire with atrocious fan that doesn't work - but $139 - soooo cheap!! HIS is $229, minus rebate, $189 still $50 more plus I have to wait for rebate. And lots of reviews from other dudes who bought HIS ICEQ who couldn't get it working!! WHY???? I agree it doesn't make sense since HIS cpu cooler is THE BEST I think, recalling from last year, so ICE Q should be worth it - and I know Sam is waiting for 4850 ICE Q, but what about those newegg reviews from the guys who had to switch to sapphire???? One last thing, I'm keeping psu, and I DO have lots of case cooling right now I think. Is there any significant difference in power consumption between the two cards? My psu is marginal, Allied POS 500 watts but only 20 amps on 12 volt rail, but I'm thinking 3850agp shouldn't take much more juice than current x850xtpe. Another reason for sapphire?????
