So I take it you guys don't like the FX serires. I can tell you officially, I have backed out of the 5200 series.

I was running FX5600 Ultra for awhile then switched to Radeon 9550. Major improvement. I would like to give the FX 6800 a try before I completely call myself a Radeon user.

No the machines will all look as so:

    MSI KT6 Mobo's
    WD 7200 - 120GB HD's
    AMD XP 2600 chips
Gaming cases with 550 Watt power-supply
    Elixir 512mb pc3200 memory

The video cards just had me screwed. Actually, over the weekend, I saw previews to battlefield 2. Holy !@#$. The kids video cards will be nice ones. higher end models. I will fork over the dough to get a couple of good ones.

Now that you are talking about getting good cards, I'd go with a 9800PRO (refurbished or something) or definitely a 6600GT from newegg.com. Nothing less, the eye candy is amazing on both, and the power is definitely there. I know 6800GT/Ultra and the X800 line are all better cards, but who wants to really fork out 350+ dollars for a smoothER picture, when 180 bucks will get you a smooth, high quality game, anyways. I won't lie, I'd love to have a 6800Ultra..but it ain't happening soon.

I was looking at the 6600. I guess I just decided not to be cheap, and go for it.

I just bought a 6600 GT it was only $160 on new egg for an XFX model. From what i read you can play doom 3, Battlefield 2, far cry, pretty much any new game on it no problem. I just bought it to tide me over till i graduate next year, then im upgrading my comp to a intel dual core with dual 7800gtx in sli mode. :)

Isn't the 6600 GT a PCI card, or is it AGP?

you are either going to find it in a pci-express or agp varity. you would most likely be looking for the agp model.

just to clear things up here, you can bet a 6600GT in PCI-express or AGP 8x, you can also get both in the 6800GT model as well.
