    Hey,

    A few day's ago, I bought a DVD-R writer. (Vivastar rs-111)
Because I didn't even had a DVD reader before, I imidiately ripped a DVD. (Down to earth, european version).

Ofcourse I want to burn it to a DVD-r now. The problem is; de files are in total arround 5.24GB. I tried to reduce de filesize by removing the German AC3 files. Still, it does not fit on the (4.48GB/4.7GB) DVD-R disk.
When I also removed the interviews and stuff, it did almost fit; still I have arround 100MB too much.
My idea is, to also cut the last 5 minutes from the actual video-VOB file. Then I guess it will fit.

    Now I have 3 problems:
First, I can't find a program to cut the last minutes from the VOB file. Is there a program that can just cut some minutes from the VOB file?

Second, when I try to burn a DVD-R movie, "Nero Burning Rom" keeps saying that the IFO and BUP files aren't correct. Actually, he's right, because I did removed a few files from the compilation. (Interviews etc).
How can I easely create IFO/BUP files?

At last, I need a program witch creates a simple menu, from where the DVD can be started. This can be very simple, so the files it creates will be very small. Only a background picture, and a link to start the movie would be enough I guess.

Very, very last, The actual video-VOB file is splitted into 5 files. 4 of 1GB, and 1 of of +/- 600MB. How do I make shure, that they will be played nicely after each other?

    Thanks a lot !

You're headed in the right direction. Never remove .ifo or .bup files. What did you use to rip?

I've used DVD decrypter to rip the files. To be precise, I have now:
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB (98MB)
    VTS_01_1.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_2.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_3.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_4.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_5.VOB (677MB)
    VTS_02_0.BUP
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_02_1.VOB (92MB)
    VTS_03_0.BUP
    VTS_03_0.IFO
    VTS_03_0.VOB
    VTS_03_1.VOB (432MB)

This is the movie. The VIDEO_01_0.IFO and .BUP files are garbage. Well, not actually garbage, but unnecessary if you want just the movie.
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB (98MB)
    VTS_01_1.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_2.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_3.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_4.VOB (1048MB)
    VTS_01_5.VOB (677MB)
The VTS_02-3 files are extras you don't need.
Get SmartRipper, it automatically picks out the movie for you. Go slow here, this stuff works, but it takes a little time. Also, download and install ReMPEG2, IfoEdit, and SpruceUp 1.0. I don't want to get kicked off this forum but if you need to unlock SpruceUp, the answer is out there.
