Currently have the ATI 8500DV video Card and plan on purchasing the Cannon Optura 200MC. ATI card has a 1394 port, but no software to "capture" anything fom this port. Do digital cameras usually come with the software to do this or is this an OS thing? Running Windows XP professional.

If you have Windows XP (Pro), you should also have Windows "Movie Maker".

This is a very basic piece of software, but it does support video capture, but like I say, it is VERY basic.

There are lots of video editing packages on the market these days.

One I often recomend is edit studio, not only does this support video capture, but "Batch Capture" as well. This is a very useful feature.

The good news is you can download it and have a 30 day free trial. Go here :- http://www.puremotion.com/index.htm

    Good luck.
