mozhaven, a question, when you say you started using the 'highest quality encoding option' in ConvertXtoDVD, does that mean less episodes per disk too?
Also, with ConvertX, do you get menus? Is it easy to use, and all in one? I'd just like to know b4 I decide to try it. This is like the 4th thread I've posted in here at AD with this a/v out of sync problem [mine using Nero as well], and I haven't seen one definitive answer to it. I loved the ease of Nero being basically all in one with simple menus and chapters, and I'd like to find a program that does it again.

frustratd - My most recent project with ConvertX was quite successful. I CAN tell you that your computer needs to be in good health with lots of RAM and hard drive space before you start anything. I had been hoarding quite a few AVI files and the denser my HD got, the less functional my conversion tools became.

I would heartily recommend ConvertXtoDVD. I converted the files, then used Nero Vision (I'm using 7 but version 6 works too) to build the DVD's and make the menus. My husband is impressed, so far. : - ) I only wished it worked 100% of the time, but hey 2 bad files out of 22 episodes isn't bad.

Thank you choirmom for replying. I think you and I were experiencing the same frustrations/limitations with our programs, so it's nice to hear back from someone who's 'been there'. I will likely give ConvertXtoDVD a try then.

And thank you for the reminder about clearing ram and freeing up memory. I am constantly deleting files that are no longer needed as I go. I generally try to clear and reboot in between each download and burn, and also try to keep minimum 10+ GB free, plus keep minimal programs running during encoding, etc. Also, I only use Sony dvd's to burn, altho I may go back to Verbatim as I've read such good things about them in the past few months too.

I appreciate your help and reply. Hopefully this program will work for me as it has for you. :)

ETA: which version of ConvertX do you recommend? Is there one that is more 'bug free', or one that is more stable than another?

In my opinion, Ridata makes the best discs. I've burned over 400 and haven't had any disc-related errors. They're usually cheaper than mainstream disks anyway. Check out meritline.com for them. Good luck!
