Easiest way to convert VOBs to MPEG2 so I can import and edit using DVD Authoring software? Converting VHS/home movies to DVD is my newest hobby, so any knowledge would be appreciated greatly.

Most good authoring apps will take .vob directly.
What software are you using to author?
If you're working with captured VHS, how are you getting the .vob's to begin with? You should be getting a .avi or .mpeg
What are you using to capture? Software, hardware?

I am using Sonic MyDVD 5 and it doesn't support VOBs. Which ones do? I have a Philips DVD Recorder 615, http://reviews.cnet.com/Philips_DVDR615/4505-6473_7-30919587.html
and I connect my video camera or my VCR to it and playback the video tape while the DVD Recorder burns to DVD. I copy those VOBs from that DVD to my computers HDD.
