    midk2k3 it is -

Got the phone Doc, got a friend coming over tomorrow and I'll ask him to get me a headset (I, at one time worked at Rat Shack, a few hours a week when I wasn't busy with my Scuba Diving business)

I'll get him to hook it up - He's coming over to give my PC a "Blow Job" - after that I'll give it a Defrag :))

I'm out of here - the light is at the end of the tunnel once he gets his ifo and bup files :D

    Bye, Bye,

    "P"

Ok, it's working on them now.

You can go on while it's doing it. I'll have the posts to refer to. Thanks again!

    Ok,

When it completes, you will see TWO entries in the top window.

Highlight the LOWER of the two entries (D:\TEST\VTS_01_0.IFO).

The bottom window will have loads of details in it.

Click on Get VTS sectors, answer YES or OK to everything.

You will now have 4 entries in the top window.

    Click Quit (bottom right)

Browse to D:\TEST\ and post a directory listing when you are done.

    OK,

    Browse to D:\TEST
create a directory there called S1

    run IFOEdit again

Click Open, browse to D:\TEST and select VIDEO_TS.IFO, click open

Click Open, browse to D:\TEST and select VTS_01_0.IFO, click open

Minimise the two entries in the top pane (click the - sign in the box to the left of the filename)

Select the bottom of the two entries in the top pane.

    Click VOB extras

In the VOB extras options window
down the left-hand side, select ONLY (counting from the top) 2, 4, 5, 6

down the right-hand side select ONLY the top 2 and the bottom 2

vob size should be set to 1GB

browse the destination directory to D:\TEST\S1

    click OK

    click strip it

    wait while it processes

    Good to know!

By the way, it looks like it's combining all of the VOBs into one large VOB? If it is, this isn't what I'd prefer.. but it works either way.

    [EDIT]
could we make it create VOBs for every chapter like it was from the start?

    No, not into one VOB.

It is combining them into VOBs of 1GB size (the standard on DVDs).

The chapter info should stay the same.

Ah, ok. Since VOB_01_1.vob would be chapter 1 and VOB_01_2.vob was chapter 2, I thought it would make them into hunks.

    Last step, then?

When it has finished processing, click OK.

The bottom entry of the top pane should be highlighted.

The bottom pane will have loads of stuff in it.

Click Get VTS sectors, click YES or OK, then quit.

What DVD player software do you have (PowerDVD, WinDVD etc)???

    WinDVD Recorder.

but I'd also like to use it on a set-top box if that's what you're asking.

It will work on a set-top exactly the same as in S/W.

I don't know about WinDVD Recorder, is it playback s/w?

Yeah. WinDVD Platinum, but with a recorder for a TV Tuner card. It can also play back raw VOBs.

BTW: What's the purpose of this part? Is it compressing it or something?

They can all playback raw VOBS.

Does it have a function to playback a DVD from Hard-Drive? (I use PowerDVD myself)
