I have a few music dvd`s that i want to rip only certain videos from, and then import them into an authoring program, where i can make my own menue`s etc.

i have tried importing them into DVD maestro, DVDit, Ulead DVD factory, but none recognise the vob`s.

Do i need to do anything to them first before they can be recognised??

    Please help

    mutley365,

Simply put, VOBs are a video and audio complilation stream.

If you want to use "certain parts" from these VOBs, you will need to convert them to mpeg2 first. This might mean splitting it into both it's video and audio parts before you edit and "re merge" them.

You certainly can't import them directly into the applications you mentioned.

what they will do for you is convert them to VOBs (They will accept mpeg2 files eg. *.m2v files)

    Hope that helps.
