    I followed these directions you posted to another user:
    * Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
    * Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    * Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
    * You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
    * The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
    * A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

    Send it here along with a fresh HjT log.

    My IE browser still wants to change my start up page.... Here is the latest HTJ log .....

    @ruffin: Logs look clean. To which page it wants to change it?

    @Kotanus: Sorry to say, but you're far from clean :) Smitfraud is maybe gone, but there's a lot more left.

    Uninstall via add/remove programs (control panel):

    Media Gateway

    Fix with HjT (do a system scan only, checkmark these and press fix checked):

    @Kotanus: Yes, it cleaned some but not all. Please follow my previous instructions :)

    Before that, make your hidden and system files visible ->
    http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

    Because at least one of those files is present (is on Running processes).

    Hi kemisti,

    needless to say i have the same problem with this W32.Myzor.FK@yf virus. Of course, i have done a lot of scanning using NAV, antispyware programs but still no avail. I have just read this forum and would have appreciated if u spend some time to look at my log file for me

    Thanks a million in advance!

    @janet88:

    Move HijackThis to its own folder eg. -> C:\hjt

    Fix with HjT (do a system scan only, checkmark these and press fix checked):

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Firewall] iexplore.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\RunServices: [Windows Firewall] iexplore.exe

    * Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)

    Please do a search:
    "Run "Start">"Search">"All Files and Folders"> enter iexplore.exe in "All or part of file name". Select "More advanced options". Check-mark "Search System Folders", "Search hidden files and folders", and "Search subfolders". Click "Search". Right click the file and select delete.

    NOTE: If you find only this -> C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe, don't delete it! That's internet explorer exe file. That file -> O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Windows Firewall] iexplore.exe may not be present at all!

    * Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

    Reboot, send a fresh HjT log along with contents of C:\rapport.txt

    @Rheeya:

    Download SmitfraudFix.zip to your desktop -> http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

    Unzip it (folder named SmitFraudFix) to your desktop:

    Open the folder SmitfraudFix and doubleclick smitfraudfix.cmd
    Choose option #1 - Search by typing 1 and pressing "Enter"; a textfile opens and lists the infected files (if those exist)

    Post the contents of this textfile to here.

    (Some antiviruses recognises process.exe as a malware. It is not malware, it is a program that stops processes)

    My problem with the icon in the explorer bar is gone as well as internet explorer being redirected to another website but I noticed I'm getting a random pop window that says something about a threat and wanting me to download some program.

    I am starting to get suspicious about this file that appears on the HijackThis log:

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\5d4accb.exe

    Any thoughts?

    You are probably getting tired of this, but I followed the advice that you gave the other users and it seems to have worked. Will you please check my HjT report and my smitfraudfix rapport? Thank you in advance for your time and efforts.
