    Hello to all.

    Needless to say why I'm here.
    Got this problem about 2½ hours ago and after running Norton Security 2006 twice (and no solution) I decided to look for answers on the web (annoying web-page redirection) and I found this forum.

    Started reading it and was (to my surprise) stunned by the kind, fast and efective responses by Kemisti (you are good man); so I decided to "join" this thread.

    First and foremost I want to apologize in advance for any grammatical error (my english is VERY rusty).

    Secondly I'm not a PC guru or anything (very little, can turn the PC on and off though) so I'm requesting help.

    I did manage to download this HJT software and gave it a run so it could scan the PC and this is what it came of it:

    Please Kemisti, look at my log and advise me.

    @marioACR:

    Download SmitfraudFix.zip to your desktop -> http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip

    Unzip it (folder named SmitFraudFix) to your desktop:

    Open the folder SmitfraudFix and doubleclick smitfraudfix.cmd
    Choose option #1 - Search by typing 1 and pressing "Enter"; a textfile opens and lists the infected files (if those exist)

    Post the contents of this textfile to here.

    (Some antiviruses recognises process.exe as a malware. It is not malware, it is a program that stops processes)

    @marioACR:

    It's here -> c:\rapport.txt :)

    And I´m not always as fast ;)

    Uninstall via add/remove programs, if present (control panel):

    Spyware Begone

    Fix with HjT (do a system scan only, checkmark these and press fix checked):

    O2 - BHO: (no name) - {BDF3E430-B101-42AD-A544-FADC6B084872} - (no file)
    O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {42CDD1BF-3FFB-4238-8AD1-7859DF00B1D6} - (no file)
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Spyware Begone] c:\freescan\freescan.exe -FastScan
    O16 - DPF: {11111111-1111-1111-1111-111111113456} - file://c:\info6_s.cab
    O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.imgfarm.com/images/nocache/funwebproducts/ei/SmileyCent...

    * Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)

    Delete if found:

    c:\freescan
    c:\info6_s.cab

    * Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
    * Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
    * You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
    * The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
    * A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

    Reboot, send a fresh HjT log and contents of C:\rapport.txt here

    The file you told me to remove with the add/remove progamm was not there: Spyware Begone.

    The files c:\freescan and c:\info6_s.cab[/b9 were not there too.

    Looks like I'm free!!!!!!!! YAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!

    Lost my wallpaper but it's a small price to pay.

    Hey man, you are great. Do you have a paypal account or something? I would like to donate to the cause (your skills) something (not much, just a thank you present).

    Well, whatever you study keep doing it.

    By the way:
    My PC need like 5 or more minutes to reboot (or close) that's why I posted until this time.

    If you ever need any help with µicrocontrollers (PICs) just send me an email. Even though I'm not very good at them, I can defend myself.

    Thanks a lot.

    @marioACR:

    You can get wallpaper back via Control Panel -> Themes :)

    Fix with HjT:

    O2 - BHO: Nothing - {6ab7158b-4bff-4160-ad7d-4d622df548cf} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp100.tmp (file missing)

    Your Java is outdated and needs to be updated:

    Java update:

    Click Start -> Control Panel and doubleclick Java-icon (coffee cup).
    Go to "Update" - tab . Update your Java by clicking "Update Now" and then reboot.
    If you are unable to perform an automatic update, please download Java from this address:

    http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

    After reboot, go back to Control Panel and Java.
    In Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files-button.
    Make sure that all these three options are checkmarked:

    Downloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files

    Click OK in "Delete Temporary Internet Files" window.

    After that, you can uninstall older version of Java via Add/remove programs in Control Panel

    It should look like this:

    Reboot and send a fresh HjT log.

    @manu6361: Yes, I live in Finland :)

    * Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
    * Double-click smitfraudfix.cmd

    Send contents of that file and a fresh HjT log.

    @kemisti - You are godsend for folks like us who are not computer savvy!!

    here is the Hjt file and smitfraud. Let me know if I am clean or you see something suspicioous(I still see a hp100.tmp file missing in the HJt log).

    BTW - Afterdawn forum is kinda cool for someone from Finland - Land of the Midnight Sun ;-)

    @manu6361:

    Fix with HjT (do a system scan only, checkmark this and press fix checked):

    O2 - BHO: Nothing - {6ab7158b-4bff-4160-ad7d-4d622df548cf} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp100.tmp (file missing)

    Reboot and send a fresh HjT log.

    It's clean if you have installed this by yourself ->

    @manu6361:

    Yes, you can remove smitfraudfix now, also HjT if you like.
    Ewido is good for malware. Spybot, Ad-aware, spywareblaster can also be used.
