want upscaling from componet

    plaese tell me how to get 1080i through componet have 65 in mits hd capable and can get 1080 from dvi to componet but not from onkyo 6 disc upscaler??? being told upscaling is only from hdmi not componet side

    looks like you are being told correct. I looked up onkyo, and all the advertising seemed to say "upscaled over HDMI". Not sure what model you have, but the odds are "only if you use HDMI".

    Maybe you have this DV-CP706

    If you notice at the bottom specs it says "High-Definition 1080p Video Upscaling" - that would be HDMI only.

    If you make a backup of your movie, the restrictions will be taken off and you will be able to upscale to 1080i through component/dvi.

    Originals - restrictions
    Backups - no restrictions
