I can't seem to figure out what kind of protection WarCraft III has. Also, is there a program that can verify what kind of protection a CD has. Steps I have Taken: -Read the How to Back-up thread and links -Searched the CD for key files -Tryed making images in a couple of Datatypes
The program exists and is ClonyXXL. You can download it from Afterdawn's: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/clonyxxl.cfm BTW, Warcraft III is SecuROM v2 / Key Checks so it's very difficult to backup, since you must be capable to write Subchannel data (RAW SAO 16 or RAW DAO).
WarCraft III is SecuROM 4.6.x cd protected. Clone CD can make backups of Warcraft 3. Original releases are protected with SecuROM 4.68.xx.xxxx (exact version depending on where the game is purchased. UK version is 4.68.00.4608). Some later releaes have required the use of TwinPeak obviously suggesting a higher SecuROM version. The SecuROM profile is sufficiant in Clone CD as long as you have a good subs reader. http://forum.cdfreaks.com/showthrea...f48f3f68aea&threadid=65119&highlight=Warcraft Use this CloneCD profile and if it fails, then you'll need to use BlindWrite 4.25. CloneCD profile courtesy CD-Freaks. [CloneCD ReadPrefs] ReadSubData=1 RegenerateData=0 ReadSubAudio=1 AbortOnReadError=0 FastErrorSkip=0 ReadSpeedData=0 ReadSpeedAudio=0 IntelligentBadSectorScan=0 SectorSkip=100 NoErrorReport=0 FirstSessionOnly=0 AudioQuality=0 [CloneCD WritePrefs] DontRepairSubchannelData=0 AlwaysCloseLastSession=1 AmplifyWeak=0 WriteSpeed=0 You might wan't to post a "sticky" thread on how to backup SecuROM 4.8.x ? Shoey
I had already included a 'SecuROM 4.8x with BlindWrite' short guide in the general sticky thread 'Backup protected CDs' http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/23699 It also links, for more details, to your more detailed thread http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/24875 This should provide enough info (I hope).
