I suppose your right with that statement... for some reason the asus boards like to turn raid on.... Lets see what JabJab42 comes back with.

I'd still like you to prove that Asus make the worst components... especially when it comes to motherboards.

What motherboard do you use ?
What CPU > Memory etc... i'm just interested to hear your opinions ?

Lets not get into arguments... everyone is allowed there opinion wether its wrong or right but for you to tell me i don't know what i'm talking about is just insulting.

I build around 10 systems a month for many different clients while working to their budgets and i have had zero complaints from any of them. They tell me there budget and i build the best i can for them.

    Pleased to meet you.

I'm only 28 but have many clients who trust my instincts...

ie i get a call.. they tell me the problem.. and i can usually diagnose what s up...

    you'll know that anyway. LOL

Not easy doing all this and working full time but it does pay dividends.

I see your a mod here... how long you been using afterdawn ?

I found when i ran into trouble may years ago after flashing a Pioneer Dvd-rw !

There are a couple of issues anybody trying to work in repairs needs to know concerning windoze and asus sata mobos..

firstly did you install the proper chipset drivers after installing windoze.. or are you using the ones that M$ supply (don't say what doze version you are using.. but I'm guessing you aren't on xp)

secondly.. have you tried the ide emulation setting instead of achi? .. if that works fine then it's defo a chipset driver problem.

Last thing.. buy a new cmos battery (pennies) and check the jumper setting and the little cap next to it (nearby.. usually 5v 680µf) for being short circuit... bad cap in this position is very rare.. but they can happen occasionally... normally they progressively go leaky.. The other symptoms freezing and refusing to reboot etc do suggest a bad cap somewhere.. likely the one near any agp slot.. those always seem under rated.
