    I buy non-printable Fujifilm=Prodisk, Maxell=Prodisk.
For white printables I buy Ritek.

Recently burned Dysan=Ritek (I burned them at 16X because I could see the dye layer from the top side).I didn't burn any of them for my own use.I'm a selfish, unfeeling bastard.

I think Prodisk are they way to go for CD's.I seldom, if ever, burn at the top rated speed (if it's for me ;).
I have in the past used Khypermdia=CMC, and can't say they have ever given me problems.
    DVD is another story.

If you want the printable ones - go with the Taiyo's a supermedia:
    http://www.supermediastore.com/taiyo-yuden-cd-r-media-cdr-media.html

I try to just use Taiyo or Maxell for cd's (in store made in Japan Fuji or Maxell) - they have worked the best for me and stood the test of time!

    @attar
LOL - I use my cmc verbs - not for me of of course :)

Hello binkie7..Well I was kinda looking at the price, the Ty's are 1/3 more +shipping.I know!!U get what U pay for!!Belive me I've learned that with DVD's.I only buy 1st choice Ty's,2nd choice Ritek.Even paid att to forums & tried Verbs. But found that some players don't like them,so no more Verbs[BenQ 1655 burner]is what i use.
Anyway are the Ritek's & ProDisc a reliable & stable choice as a 2nd choice, taking price into consideration.Believe me I would buy the Ty's if they were the same price. But at 30cents a piece,I think I'll wait if somebody can't offer me an alternative second choice as to something reliable..I' ve still got a bunch of TDK's & Fuji.Don't really care about speed,as I'm old school never burn over 8x 12x for solid burns, patience is a virtue
I have used the Dysans RW's.Not a bad Disc fot RW

If you need the printable then try the Ridata/Ritek or Prodisc. I strayed from Ritek them (ridata was fine for me) after there dvd's esp. printable ones went down hill on me. CD's can be different.
Prodics could be okay too. Might want to try them too.

If you don't then instore look for the made in Japan Fuji or Maxell. Cheaper instore usually - at least around here.
Those 2 come to mind cause those are the only 2 that still play from the original napster days :) All I've really used that past few years - besides the cmc verbs.

rick5446 - I ran into problems w/ the ritek GO4 and GO5's. The dye after burning had spots in it and some had a smear look to them (best way I can think of describing it). It was quite aggravating - had to redo them. So since then no more - Taiyo and MCC Verbs for me :)

The best I ever tried were sony cd-rs from walmart very cheap as well as they worked well even at high speed burning

Maxell never gave me too many problems if I burned them at a slower speed

Memorex even burnt at 8x they were crap

    never tried anyother

The VERY BEST CD-R media that WalMart has for sale is the Maxell CD-R Pro . . the discs are made by Taiyo Yuden and a stack of 20 is as thick as a stack of 25 discs made by anyone else . . very low jitter and excellent rigidity

WOW..This is really strange,Cd's are a whole different game from DVD's.Some of the mentioned good quality CD's,are crappy DVD's.As I'm new to CD's,I did purchase a 200pk of Ritek for $0.18 ea free shipping.Which I thought was a good price. So I'LL START HERE & look for better Disc's at better prices.I do prefer Printable surface Disc's
I have noticed that CD's are just as costly as DVD's.U would think that the quality could be maintained the same way

Look for the made in japan only - Taiyo's - dvd or cd are only made in japan.
Can also check supermediastore.com for their prices on Taiyo cd's.

I don't use nearly as many cd's as dvd's so I tend to buy the cd's instore.

    @rick5446
Well Verb cd's are mad by CMC so... Yes there is a diff. Has to do with the dye but that's about all I can tell you on that.

If you aren't impressed with Verbatim DVD media . . you have no business at all getting Verbatim CD media . .

    Verbatim DVDs = A- media
    Verbatim CDs = C+ media

If you want the BEST CD media . .
    Get:
    Kodak Gold
    Maxell MIJ
    Fuji MIJ
    Memorex Black
When I value what I burn . . these are the ONLY CDs that I'll use
