And to think that when i created this thread on my old account, i didn't think it'd last 50 pages due to all the different musical tastes in here...

mp3 do not have the good quality of the old records.
and i do have a ton of records i put on tape..
and the best part i did not have to use a computer or worry about copy protection...

Yes, I agree ireland, the old records have great sound quality, far superior to the lossy mp3 format. But in this day & age, they just aren't as convenient for some.

    @ireland

How are your tapes holding up? I had over 125 7inch reel tapes that were 30+ years old that I had to throw away. The ferrous oxides did not hold up even in climate controlled house. I threw them away late last year. The records have held up just fine and some have been transferred to discs. Music sounds warmer with all the little nuances with minor pop, cracks, etc from LPs than sterile digital discs. IMHO.

I see nothing desirable in the music today. Not from the subject range, not from the artists, not from the quality. Worse, the majority of the music I see today that I might be interested in, I already have. I don't need to buy Greatest Hits because I have the originals. Those originals are not hampered with any sort of anticopy. If I want a cassette, ok, if I want a CD, that's ok too.
    but never a ipood..

my tapes are holding up well in fact i am playing them now to test the quality, only had to redo a couple

all my tapes are backed up to external hard drives..took a long time to put all the tapes on but it was worth it..one song at a time..

i have the go go on now,=we got the beat..

So you beef is with iPods? Fair enough I guess, although I don't see what sets the iPod apart from any other mp3 player on the market.

You can go out now and purchase music CD's and rip the individual files as FLAC format audio, and they can be played back on the iPod, providing you know what you are doing.

i still have good hearing at my age,the ipood does not cut it..

i have a couple of friend who has a ipood..when i run theres through my amp with there song and then i play the same song..they can not believe the difference in quality..

i guess if ye did not hear good quality then using a ipood is all ye all know..

another thing i can put a high q song of my choosing on a cd and play it on any player, and no drm..

playing inner circle,=bad boys then juice newton,=queen of hearts
next men with out hats, safty dance

picture and music is my cup of tea,i go to garage sales and buy any record i can find
