why thankyou aabbccdd, but i do believe that a 7800 performs better than an X850-XT, look it up somewhere :D - but i need a better CPU :(

Yes in the benchmarks I've seen in reviews the 7800 out performs the X850 PE. I wanna say it barely out performs even 6800 GTs in sli.

yeah flip the 7800 really is somethin different - only just out performing 2 6800s but in SLi the 7800s have a DROP in performance at resolutions of 1280 and below - very, very odd :S

But then who wants to go below that res anyway?? :eek:P

yeah good point, games suck in low res...

It is odd how the card seems to suffer at lower resolutions but if you own a 7800 or are lucky (or wealthy/daft enoough like me) to have 2 then you would never use a res below 1280x1024 anyway. It makes me laugh that some ATI fanboys (no one here I might add, just a couple of my friends) are using this to slate the 7800!

yeha lol just wait until all them ATI guys out there realise what SLi 7800's can do - when Call of Duty 2 comes out there'll be some converts from ATI to nVIDIA

lol unfortunately I only have one, but over here in australia I got the card as soon as it came out - within a week, when there was only one brand out. It cost me $900 AUD, but I'm definately getting another one after I get some cash.

i wouldnt be so sure.. but it depends on the CPU used - 7800s are SEVERELY CPU limited... i wouldnt be using one unless I had an FX-57, if I had the choice that is. x850's arent bad, but I wouldnt put them above a 7800.. the numbers dont add up. 24 pipelines versus 16 pipelines.. means the 7800 pushes more pixels per cycle, which should mean that it makes better graphics. And besides, most games are made for nVIDIA nowadays.

I've used many X850 XT's and many 7800's now as I've just setup my own small business building PC's (shameless advertising!). I've noticed that the 7800 performs better overall. You certainly don't need an FX-57 to run a 7800 though. Anything above a 3500+ would be sufficient. But if you want to run them in Sli mode I would suggest either one of the dual core 4000+ or if you want to stay single core then the FX-55.

lets have a poll, whoever thinks the 7800 performs better say so, if you dont agree, say the X850, my vote goes to the 7800.
