what causes retries

    just a simple question, and im not a cpu knowledgeable kind of guy......when playing games online my ping is fine with my opponent but the retries shoot thru the roof vs others and its a lot better at night than during the day......retries are worst during the day

    but what causes retries is what i want to know and is there anything that i could do to help it
