    Acer Laptop

Hey guys my dad just bought this laptop for my sister at circuitcity today for her B-Day to take to callage. Dose it look ok to you? He also got the 4 yaer accidental plan for it for another $299

    Is the laptop ok?
    Will the laptop last?

Just want to make sure because we can always take it back... he bought it because the sale ended today.

The machine itself is nice, BUT...

It comes with Windows Media Center, not a regular XP Home or Pro operating system. I find that a somewhat inappropriate OS for a laptop. Because Vista should be avoided at all costs, it means you will have to install your own copy of XP.

Also, it comes with Norton's, which is a big fat headache, though there are free AV and firewalls, so that's not such a big deal.

Yea... Norton Dosen't Come installed on it it comes on a cd. We will probably just give it to the garbage can. We use Ad-Aware and ZoneALArm and love them. So we are goo there. Thanks for the response. We didn't take Vista so we are good there to.

Still seams like a great buy to me.
    Any other comments?

They're at the CircuitCity link Domreis posted. All in all they seem like a very good deal to me, the OS notwithstanding. They're more a Tigerdirect.

Domreis, thoses are a great deal and the quality is pretty good also,so you made the right choice for the money.

ad/aware is a spyware program and zonealarm is a firewall so you will still need an anti-virse program i would go with "Trend Micro" or "NOD32"

if you want to go with a free AV program go with "Avast" or avg both are good . avoid norton at all cost lol

ZoneAlarm Suite (or something like that) is also a Virus-Protection software...
Thanks for the replys... It looked like a good deal to me too.

You mean Ad-Aware? It's an ANTI-spyware program! One of the best not less. Be careful not to scare people...;)
