    LOL, gotta love that "patience" quote catfreak, noticed it in the dvd media section~ :) thanks~

    i got myself 2 of the 1650s, just in case..LOL

    shipping price is RELATIVE in this particular case, to be one of the first to have it here in the U.S. warrants the shipping price for ME personally~ :p

    been awhile since i've paid using Paypal as well, so it's all good.

    docTY~

    Around $60 after the int'l shipping,but hopefully well worth it. I can't wait. Some feedback on that site said the fw needs updated out of the box.

    The other week I solved a backup compatability issue from another member who had the 1650. Apperently another member said they suppose to booktype with nothing special. That person I helped couln't get his plus backups to play on that 1650. After I told him to download qsuite 2.0, issue was solved.

    Using 2 benq 1620s and the 1640, I am expecting great performance with the 1650. The 1620 and 1640 are sweet!

    The MicroCenter in the Tustin/Irvine area has the 1640 in stock. I believe there are at least 3 MicroCenters in the Ohio, one of them is in Columbus I think.

    @wolf

    that was the one i went to a few weeks back, i didn't see any "on display" for sale and i asked the customer service guy behind the counter if they had any more and he said, "no..we're not carrying that model anymore" :)

    perhaps he was holding out on me? if i may ask, how much were they asking for it? i'm willing to make another drive down there if the price is reasonable...how many did you see "in stock", so as i don't drive all the way there only to be told they "have no more" ?

    please let me know...if they are like $60 or so, imma wipe them out of all remaining stock...thank you.

    Call them up, Doc before you mke the drive ... I've called several within reasonable driving distance (including Columbus, Oh) and haven't found any in stock ...

    @catfreak

    i know calling them first is probably the easiest solution, however, if i get an inept sales person (as per last visit), i will just be told that they don't have any again; but it has been visually CONFIRMED by wolfniggr that they DO have them in stock~ :)

    ok...just called them, twice actually....first guy said "no more in stock"....2nd lady said, we have 4 in the "system" for this location, but that does not guarantee they are "in the store" at this time...i kindly asked her to "check actual inventory" for me...she put me on hold...bout 10' min. later...she said "i can't find any on the floor" :p

    ok...so, who am i to believe at this point? 2 separate sales reps told me they have no more, yet wolfniggr confirms they still have them in stock? that's why i asked him specifically HOW MUCH they were and how MANY left...hehehe

    docTY

    p.s. u may have thought my common-sense was lacking there, but rest assured, i HAVE called them and they have NOT been helpful to say the least :)

    You Lucky Dog! LOL

    Let me know what fw version is installed on it.

    I've heard it is suppose to be booktype ready,but let me know if it isn't. Someone posted his 1650 wouldn't play it's own plus format backups. Using qsuite 2.0 to set the booktype solved that issue.

    @docTY: Ok, my 1655 is showing up tomorrow, so what's the verdict? Is this a burner that you're impressed with, so far? (I know there are probably some pretty significant differences between the 1650 and the 1655 just due to Lightscribe support, but I'm hoping the burning functions, at least, are fairly consistent...)

    Hey Doc: I just got my 1650 today. I updated the fw from BCAC to BCDC as soon as I slapped her in. It also used my qsuite 2.0 and still kept the settings to Booktype +r/+rw/and +r DL media.

    I'm one of the very few benq 1650 owners in the USA! I must be special, LOL

    I even tinkered around with qscan. I didn't know it had to be a blank disc to scan, DOH!

    All the available tabs on q-suite,just like my 1640 drive and she's super quiet and smooth.

    Now to test out some Yuden000-T02 and see how they fare.

    December 2005 is the manufacturing date.(Reference purposes only)
