There is an EasyBuy200 Europe. Not sure if they ship to England but I would guess they would.

Pretty much when you go to the store to buy an XBox first look at the MFG Date on the back of the box through the cut out hole.
You can get a pretty good idea of what version it is by the MFG Date. Anything after 08/03 will be a v1.5

You lost me, What does the PS2 have to do with the Xbox?

If you can get an XBox dated early 2003 then you can be sure it's not a v1.5
Just check a few stores and look at the date before buying it. If the Xbox is not easily accessable, behind the counter or something, just ask to check it out and pretend your reading the back of the box and take a peek at the MFG Date. In the US most bigger stores have displays on the sales floor so checking dates is pretty easy.

why not to get an Old stock new xbox ?

    or a refubrished xbox
that way you gonna get a older and easier version of xbox to work on it

it doesnt matter the warranty since you need to open it to install the chip?
    if purchased brand new
    you'll waste money

since you are very sure u gonna get a V 1.5

    dont take the risk
    and get an earlier version
get a refubrished = almost same as new
    and cheaper ;)
