what is a .pdf file created in?

    i am about to write an ebook and want to produce it in .pdf format. i bought adobe acrobat pro but when I installed it the only option is to create a .pdf from other formats. what program do I need to author proffesional looking .pdf documents? any help would be appreciated.

    use openOffice.org and type out your sh*t then save as PDF...

    @ also you can download virtual printers taht print to PDF...

    or just use edited by ddp microsoft word and convert it using acrobat. why do people just not use google and ask edited by ddp questions?

    rundata, if you read the question before making your retarded comment then you would have known that i already knew you could create .pdf files from other formats, but was looking for a program that could create in .pdf, not just convert.

    yes, i tried a few of the programs on the list recommended by rundatta and my favourite is CutePDF. Thanks for the help everyone
