I don't own an Xbox, but if it's 500 Mb, that must via an external hard drive; and what sort of input on the Xbox - is it USB or Firewire in?

so with your 300gb harddrive, did you use a modchip?
I was wonderin, because I dont feel like putting a modchip in, but I want to have a 400 gb harddrive, so i was wondering if you dont use a modchip, are all dashboards comapatible with such a big hdd? what dashboard do I use that is able to read the entire size of the hdd (evox, xbmc, unleash)?

u just find a spare HD from a computer and add it to ur xbox...
and yes all dashboards are compatible with a bigger HD its basically the same as the stock drive..

but without a modchip, dont you basically need everything from your old drive on the new one. Your not expanding the stock drive with another drive, right?

I've been doing a bit of research on this subject myself and I have found that Softmodded xbox's will only allow 137Gb max!? Is this true?

Also, is the tutorial for the Softmod upgrade exactly the same for a Hardmodded Xbox?

    lol....
to upgrade on a softmodded xbox just follow this link...

Upgrading HD on Softmodded Xbox Tutorial
    NOTE**
Also, if your HD is OVER 137 gigs, you'll need to format the remaining space with UnleashX for it to be available once you're finished the upgrade.

With a hardmod to upgrade the Drive all you have to do is put it in along with the AID 3.0 disc were u will be prompted to format the drive....

Fantastic! Ok, just to recap for all those playing at home...

    * Softmodded Xboxs can use more then the 137Gb limit after you format the remaining HDD space with UnleashX.

    * Hardmodded Xboxs only require you to simply replace the drive with the newer, larger drive and boot with AID 3.0 disc

    Is that all correct?

To format your drive to allow the remainder of your space to be useable using UnleashX...

But we should Format G:\, correct?
