what is wrong with my cpu?

    I had an amd athlon 1800+ and i just got a new cpu amd athlon 2800+ and theres like no diffrence. I bought the new cpu so i can play doom 3 on low setting and i still cant even do that it works the same. Also with all my other games too, nothing works any better so now im wodering if its something i need to do in my bios....someone please reply

    What kind of graphics card are you using?

    i was and still am using an AOPEN geforce 5600 256mb ddr.........i thought my getting a better cpu it can make the games run a little better

    OEM computer? go to the bios to adjust the colling of the computer's CPU.This is how you can over clock the cpu unless the bios is lock to that computer.

    when your computer boots up, what speed does it show for the cpu 1800 or 2800. If 1800 then you have to go into the bios and change the settings. Also possibility that the motherboard can't properly read the bios until you do a bios update
