I was just wondering. After reading that some boxes are not the best receivers for less than strong signals. What base line from the original sagem boxes that NTL & Chorus use is enough. Im going to borrow a firends box to see what signal strength I have in my house.
Hard to say, and I dont know which number is more important, I have one that works fine with SIG 19000, another crashed with 26000, one nokia is at 42000, lowest nokia is 36000. SNR on nearly all of them is 640000 You just have to trial it and see
The nokia tuner driver give other readings then the sagem tuner driver. You cannot compare the readings from nokias and sagems. The most important thing is the value for BER. BER should be zero or near zero. The BER readings for sagems are botched in some images from 2005.
What do the readings refer to? Both my nokias and sagems appear to give the same, BER, SNR & SIG. In both cases the BER is about the same 0-100 SNR 63000-66000 SIG 19000-42000 How can you tell what is good or not? is there any way to improve these other than with a booster, or sending through a video? What would an NTL installer do if he arrived at a house and had a poor signal and jittery image on a proper pace box?
BER with 0 to 100 is always good. Forget the other numbers. IF you get problems with a sagem try ucode 001A.
All the sagems are 001A. is another one recommended for nokias? I think mine are 001A yet work fine, I think I saw another recommended.
Every box is different. Simply try all available ucode versions. You have to reboot the box after a ucode version change.
