i am not completely new to dvd burning...i have only done tv shows though. I downloaded a movie using bittorrent and it came as all these winrar files, numbered 00-48, along with some.sfv files (dont know what those are) the funny thing is, all the winrar files are named the same. for instance "dmd-ihearthp.r47" only, half of them are recognized by winrar, the other half ask me how i would like to open them. when i open the rar files, each contain the entire movie in .avi format. i am familiar with converting the avi files using divx2dvd and nero to burn them. what do i do with all these files?
you have downloaded a movie which has been compressed with winrar,it splits them up in little parts to reduce the chance of errors when de-compressing....i.e lots of little archives numbered .001.002 the sfv file is a rar checker, which, has nothing to do with the actual film however, its useful for repairing damaged rar files anyways you need to right click on the first rar file, and select "extract here", see whats inside, then go from there only extract from the first file,as the whole movie will be extracted from all the rar files,
S/B the first file. If not that, click on the very next one. When we speak of the "first file" it's the first one that has the entire movie in it. THEN extract from it and they'll all join in to give you the cleanest possible complete. Enjoy, Pete
they all seem to have the entire movie in it. when i extract the first file, will it automatically do the rest for me? will i then be able to work with one single .avi? i have typically used afterdawn and scuba pete guides for figuring out dvd burning questions. is there a guide that talks about the multiple .rar file movies?
when you download a movie,it can come as 1 big rar file,or lots of little ones it depends who made it the reason it is in lots of little rar files,is because you have less chance of having any errors when extracting, and it is also more easily fixed search the net fo a sfv rar checker,if the person who made enabled "fix rar" when compressing them, the sfv checker will check through all the rar files and find, and possibly repair any errors, although this is unusual it doesnt really matter which rar file you chose to extract from, you just need to do it once. this will give you the whole movie
Now it 's me who doesn't understand ~ We told you what to do and how it would work BUT it would appear from your post you haven't done it. No, you continue to question our advice - Why ? If you had tried it and it didn't work, that's a good reason BUT I'm not sure why we have to validate ourselves. Iffin you don't like our suggestions, don't do it BUT Don't come back and question us about it without giving it a try ~ The long and short of it is, we are here to give advice and help pple when they're stuck, not to tutor a class, teaching all the ramifications and reasons behind our suggestions. If you require "in depth" knowledge, a goggle will provide it for you, N/P. If we had to teach you the why's and wherefores of everything, we couldn't field other pple's questions. We would be stuck with just one person, day after day for weeks at a time. Please, can you tell us why you think we volunteer our time here ?
thanks for the link. scubapete, you sound like you have a chemical imbalance. if you are one of those give-free-advice-but-resent-others-for-it types, it is simple...don't give advice. dvds are expensive and i have wrecked several getting aquainted with all the in's and out's of making them. i have every right to ask more questions to make sure i understand what i am doing before i f*ck it up. and the only reason i asked for a guide to refer to is so not to bother you guys with redundant questions. anyway, it worked great and i appreciated the advice, once i understood it.
@rllewis00, Why thank Hursty for the link ? You're not going to use anything there - you've demonstrated your refusal to do for yourself - I'll wager reading is out of your realm of abilities - Talk about truly lame excuses, DVD's, good ones run about $.35ea and you've lost "several" ~ several \ 'sev-ral. se-va-/ adj Consisting of an indefinite number yet not very many. Gee did you lose a dollar's worth ? Two ? Poor baby. Without trying you won't get anywhere. Obviously you haven't heard the expression, "We learn from our mistakes." If you want more answers, why don't you take some initiative your own and read up on the topic. This is the Internet, there are answers to be found here for everything if one isn't too lazy to lQQk. Try "goggle, OR are you too good to take the time to research the topic on your own ? How do you think we got the answers - we made mistakes and paid for them BUT we did it on our own. We were also intelligent enough to use DVD RW discs so that not too many were ruined. Because you are too good to use a rewritable disc isn't any reason to for your attitude or your mouth to members here. Because you think you deserve a complete education from us in our free time doesn't entitle you to one. What have you done for us other than demonstrate to us your unwillingness to try anything we suggest ? Trying something THEN askling questions is just fine but you do not have a "Right" to question us without any ground to stand on. Why not show that you can do something, anything on you own other than complain about me, refusing to waste my time on someone who won't do a solitary thing but b*tch. You'll not get far in life refusing to do for yourself. Talk about atitude, you better consider losing yours.
