if the router had 100m range, would i be able to connect downstairs when the wireless router was upstairs? If not, what range would be suitable for me to connect from downstairs?
Range is an arbitrary term. It depends on the strength of the antenna you're using to pick the signal up, and what signal strength you're willing to put up with. You can browse (albeit slowly) on a zero bar signal, but you'll want at least two bars for online gaming. Inside a normal size house, a router upstairs will give an ample signal to a computer downstairs.
my WBR-2310 is on the 1st floor and I can get a signal anywhere in the house (upstairs with excellent and the basement with the door closed with excellent) I can actually also get a partial signal from a neighbors house and connect (not fast but I can connect)
i got a belkin g+ mimo wireless router for cable. I'm going to install it and i'll post back if all went well or if i have problems.
im using the belkin router and having no problems. the speed is fine. but it says it has up to 3OOm of range when sometimes i get 50% signal strength from downstairs when my router is upstairs
http://www.speakeasy.net/speedtest Go here and test your internet speed when you are close to the router and when you are far away from the router, I don't think that you will see much of a difference.
ok ty for the website but i don't really care. I'll probably won't post back, only if i have any problems.
I sent you the website so you can test if your Windows Network Connection strength indicator is right or not.
Good morning, I am looking at purchasing a D-Link DIR 655 Wireless Router. Anyone have any feedback about this router. I am new to the wireless world and want to make sure I get a good router. Our house is about 3100 square feet including a basement. I have an office upstairs, but occassionally use my laptop in the basement when I am doing ebay. Let me know what you think. Have a wonderful day........
you won't need a wireless N router, I have a wireless G with speedboost and it works fine everywhere in my house, i think N is more speed then range, its ment for video streaming and multemedia. http://reviews.cnet.com/routers/d-link-dir-655/4505-3319_7-32145084.html?tag=prod.txt.1
I agree i was looking at a dlink n router and the range was only 100m while my belkin g router has up to 300m range. N routers are mainly for video streaming and aren't that much faster if you get a g+ mimo router.
if u have a lot of money to play with and you have a fast internet connection and you want to stream videos then get the d-link. However it only has up to 75metres range http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/st...oduct&fm=13&sm=1&tm=1&sku=554900&category_oid
