whats the story with this bloody ipod

    hey ppl..

    i just bought the 60 gig Video Ipod..

    one of my main reasons for the purchase was for data storage..

    proiblem is.. i cant seem to work out how to transfer general files to my ipod.
    The ipod isnt coming up in My Computer as an available drive..
    however i CAN access my songs and movies in iTunes..

    I also beleive i May still have USB 1 on my PC..
    is USB 2 a neccesity?

    can sombody PLEASSEEE advise how to transfer data to this crazy ipod

    Yeah, I think you need USB 2.0 for the newer iPods, bot 100% sure though. I am not sure if iPods function through a low-speed USB port.

    As for data storage, you should put it in disk mode. press + hold the select(middle) & play buttons for 6 seconds to do so.

    No, a USB 2.0 port is not absolutely necessary.

    From the Video 30GB box:
    "Requires Mac or PC with USB Port (USB 2.0 *recommended*); Mac OS X v 10.3.9 or later, Windows 2000 (SP4), or Windows XP Home or Professional (SP2); and iTunes 6 or later"

    Oh! I know, I know....just didnt want to send this person off under the misconception that you can't "plug it in" or something. But seriously if your computer doesn't have a USB 2.0, that's probably an indication that it's time to move on....PCs are really cheap nowadays..maybe consider buying one....soon :)
