whats wrong

    i think i know what the problem is. if not using a router but just a modem whether the motorola or cm550, you have to do an ipconfig release even switching from vista to xp or back. another way of doing that is to disconnect the power & coax cables to the modem, count to 20 & reconnect the power & coax cable in that order. i do that all the time & it works.

    i have bin doing that an nothing happens when i does it.
    i don't understand it when i reinstall windows an hook up the ethernet cable it works but when i put the xp on nothing happens

    the modem's ip is currently set for vista so disconnect both cables to modem then reconnect them.

    i did that jus now an nothing is happening again
    i have this modem hooked up with a usb cable

    is there a yellow exclamatiom mark in device manager?

    what is that exclamation mark beside as in network adapter or what? i think network adapter which explains not able to connect to net except by usb cable.
