when burning dvs my pc freezes

    cant understand why this keeps doing this when im burning a film or playstation 2 backup the whole pc locks up
    my dvd burner is a dvr106 x4 and have tried loads of media and it still does this
    thnx in advance

    Burning dvd's uses most of your computer resources. You could possibly be having an overheat problem. If you can remove a side panel or case from the PC and aim a small fan at the processor, then try to burn again. If it works all the way you need more cooling inside. If that doesn't help we can try something else.

    Make sure you are not multi-tasking or surfing the web either. That may be too much for your computer to handle.

    the pc is well cooled but the drive is also having problems reading data now aswell
    my pc spec is
    2800amd xp
    gigabyte nforce pro 2 motherboard
    512 ram
    could the burner just be scrap and this is the problem.also i get write errors when using alcahol

    Try disabling Alcohol, and see if your problem goes away.
