Hey All, nice to see some of the originals still stop by, I remember quite a few of you from back in the day...couldn't reclaim it but my old moniker was once boxwrench Peace!
Hey.. watch out next week.. a couple of threads coming up I'm sure real geeks will find most interesting.. K8N and P4S800D .. say no more
both will post if left unpowered for a couple of days.. and both will overclock to about 3.2 .. and I have a few gigs of ram hanging about unused.. total parts cost has come in at under $30 .. which looking at the prices people want for working refurbs of these.. well.. it's stupid not to really.. I can't afford a new setup.. so it's my only option really.. this antique Athlon 1.8 is getting very iffy.. and struggles with most everything.. and to boot it you have to unplug it for 5 mins.. hahahaha.. same problem no doubt.. Went through my junkheap.. found two worth doing.. so.. wait for it.. and I will finally be able to watch all those 720p anime mkv's in bed.. because the 1.2 athlon currently just about doing service in there can't manage anything over 576.. and it's that catch 22.. changing the formats takes longer than watching them.. wish I still had that cluster which so annoyed Dan.. when I did 4 months of SETI stuff in 3 hours !!!
Well fixed both like a treat. This post is from my lovely old workhorse K8N .. the one of the flame wars era.. happy daze the P4S-800D is also running a real treat now.. bad cpu was it's problem eventually.. Officially I joined the "Old Git's Club" today.. My granddaughter Ava Cerys was born at 0.56 UTC this morning. Welcome Aka Chan <3
Congratulations p3. A very pretty name, Ava. My 3rd granddaughter's name is Eva. There is no greater gift that can bestowed upon a person, than the blessing of grandchildren.
Oh, and I know that I am getting old now. Today is my wife's and my 46th wedding anniversary. I am lucky that I have her as my wife. If she would not have stood by me, when I had some problems, when I came home from a bad place, I wouldn't even be here. Life is good.
congratulations on your anniversary.you were in a bad place, but, unlike many others you came back.thank you so much for your service.
Thank you, and you are welcome. Yes, I am lucky that I came back, but unfortunately, Agent Orange started its quest to take me out, 6.5 years ago. I am not alone with that happening.
You wouldn't be the guy from Dr Sandra's video about skin problems possibly agent orange related would you? Nasty chemicals used in breach of every chemical weapons treaty ever signed.. Still a crime and those responsible should be prosecuted under international law for what they did.
I have no clue who Dr. Sandra is, so no, I am not that guy. Agent Orange took out my heart, not my skin, at least not yet. What people don't know is, AO saved a lot of American and South Vietnamese lives by getting rid of the vegetation, where it needed to be taken out. Unfortunately, AO ended up taking lives out later and still is to this day. It stayed dormant in my system for 38 years, before it reared its ugly head, in a big way. I have no idea when it will finish the job, but I am going out under my own terms.
That's good to hear anyway. Keep on keeping on I guess it where it comes to for us old timers now.. out of spite if necessary eh?
