@sammorris I want the wide screen monitor too. It is annoying when watching a wide screen video on a regular sized monitor and their are black areas at the top and bottom of the screen. The prices on the wide screen LCD's are reasonable now. Then again a wide screen projector would be nice.
Here's my Setup: I didn't feel like cleaning up inside my case From a Distance: Mind the mess Close Up: P.S Can anybody guess what that is infront of my CD-R's?
LOL.....I have just switched monitor to a 20 inch......So much differnece. The monitor in that pic is 17 inch. It doesn't sound like much differnece but trust me it is. P.S my room isn't as empty as it looks.
Heh, I'm looking at moving from 18 to 24, so that should show quite a lot! Albeit the new one being widescreen, it's still 60% more visible area.
nice setup you guys, I want widescreen LCD to. I"m stuck with regular LCD. I can use my 32inch widescreen LCD though. But that's way to big. But i have tryed it and it does look fantastic with DVI.
yeah, my 32" LCD is too big for internet use (it's like being at the cinema), i just use the LCD for Linux & PC Games
You have a 32" LCD monitor, or a TV? If it's a monitor you are one very lucky person. You're still very fortunate to have a 32" LCD TV, as are we for having a 26" one (and getting it free) but the TV doesn't take to 1280x1024 signals well since it's a 1366x768 TV. 1024x768 looks fantastic, but although it'll accept 1280, it's quite blurred and imho best avoided.
..Mine's a HD TV (Samsung). i can't remember what resolution i have it set to (am sure it's now set to max resolution), it was a pig to setup in Linux (no surprise there), but Windows was a breeze (can't remember the resolution for Windows either (it's a dual boot PC).
Lol I should hope so for that size! Yeah if it doubles as both, it's by nature a TV. HDTVs do make good computer monitors, but for the best image quality in games and such a monitor is likely to offer the best performance per price. Our 26" Aquos is worth somewhere around £500. While a 24" Dell is £100 more, it's 1920x1200 versus 1366x768, and has DVI which the Aquos doesn't. Neither are HD ready in the traditional sense, but the Dell supports HDCP, so it ticks most of the boxes, just not the "HDMI connector" one. Meh, I was never fussed about running audio and video down the same line anyway, especially since I won't use a Dell speakerbar, I have something better!
can't remember the spec of the TV without looking in the book, but i'm not overly techie with TV's anyhow; will have to have a tidy up sometime so i can post some new pics of where i'm sat...
to truly benefit from the 24" you need to have it at the highest resolution. otherwise things can look streeeeetched out of proportion onacounta widescreen. That said, if your eyesight is good you get a lot of realestate. I know, I have one; a very nice lcd.
Yeah I'm used to high res, this mere 19" CRT can do 2048x1536, that's mindbogglingly small. Turned it down after a while though because that only allows for 60Hz, and 60Hz on a CRT is a bit flickery. 60Hz shouldn't be so much of a problem with the Dell LCD though. Do things always looked stretch? I've been speaking with theonejrs, and his 20" Sceptre screen (1680x1050) apparently exhibits no stretching on anything other than the BIOS screen... whatever resolution he runs something at.
