I guess I will have to bring it into a computer repair shop and see what they could do with it. I am not sure what is wrong with it at all.

It says on a site to take it apart and then plug stuff back in one at a time to see if its a hardware problem. I would probably need to buy a POST card to see what is wrong with it.

Your motherboard has probably died then? That would be my very limited analysis.

You should probably take this to a new thread and the guys can help you in more depth without cluttering up the place - ddp might even split it off this one for you if he can do that (don't think so though).

Probably a failed board or PSU (Am thinking board, but it could easily be either). Common with Asus boards, though this one would have failed unusually prematurely. Also agree, I had no idea it was the desktop thread I was replying to when talking about this!

I must admit I initially thought I was in the AMD building thread! Anyway, without further ado I'll stop bumping this with irrelevant replies.

Would I have to buy a new mobo then?

Possibly. It is very rare a GPU causes a PC to shut down, so I expect the GPU itself is fine. Since it's easier to test, try and borrow a (decent) PSU to test the system with first, in case it's the PSU. Changing a motherboard is a lot more hassle (and in this case, expense too)

Ah right D, okay. I've asked Ketola because I happened to be in contact with him earlier; he may oblige if we're lucky :)

Anyway yes, trying a new PSU first is always a good bet if you can. As a complete aside, why has no one introduced a 'clip-in' system for motherboards? Unscrewing it is most of the hassle IMO.

RMA the GPU, if its that, the PSU, if its that, or the mobo, if its that. why pay more for replacements?

I have since put in for a refund of the PSU. I will not kno until about a week.

I have already tried two psu's and still the same problem. Every time I try to play the sims (with all updates installed) on the computer I get a blue screen with an error message. I think it could be the GPU, that it's incompatible with the mobo.

Where am I sat? LOL! Not on a piece of $h!t chair anymore. I upgraded to a 109$ manager chair at walmart. VERY nice chair. Some assembly required ;) Let's just say you could probably pick up my old chair for 10-15$ I believe its called a task chair. It started squeaking really bad, hence my new chair :D

That's a 16:9 monitor isn't it? It seems unusually wide ;) I guess I'm used to the 16:10 monitors xD

Yep! It is a beast! I can't wait until I can get it properly calibrated! That will make editing that much easier.

The GM has monitor envy!!! I has a lowly 21.5" but a step up from the 19" I had before. :p
