I have been a member at imesh and recently upgraded and now I can't burn songs because they are protected. I haven't researched enough to know what to do or where to go from here. Can anyone help me out with this? Thanks

for finding individual songs, Soul Seek is an excellent p2p app. For full ablums, give IRC a try.

Bit Torrent and Limewire are also good apps I hear. Go check the file sharing forums on this site

Hmmmmmm, I guess the free music download is falling by the way side. Thats ok, I just would like to be able to compile my own music, even if I have to pay...LOL

Yes Bit Torrent and Limewire are free. But the downside is you can get caught by organisations like the RIAA and MPAA and face hefty fines. The risk is completely up to you.

There are legal music sites like iTunes and Napster but you have to pay a supscription fee or pay for each song individually.

I read somewhere in the forums here about peerguuardian 2 and protowall, Now is that something I would use to prevent the RIAA etc from bothering me?

None of those work really, and you're better off with Walmart.com's music downloads, which can be burned with WMP and are protected. The RIAA can find you past a firewall program.

Your never truely safe on the internet. Peerguuardian 2 and protowall may give you a little more protection but you could still reveive a letter by the RIAA one day saying you have been caught file sharing.

    Bittorent is definitally the best.

Limewire has horrible quality 128 Kbps crap. I hate it. (Though limewire does have good speeds, but good speeds arnt good if the music isnt worth listening to ;))

as far as quality and selection you can't beat soul seek. it only trades music. I've always been able to find what I'm looking for at high quality with it...

    ~Wrong.

If you are sharing files, you are allowing connections from absolutely anyone, So it makes no odds ~ Peerguardian is more likely to keep you a bit safer
