    Daskins,

If plan to install a 120GB HD in my XBox. It already has data written to it. I don't need to format it, do I? The Slayers Autoinstaller will format it for me, right?

    Thanks!

yes it would format it for you but it would be better to try and delete everything on the drive before you install it on your comp.

Why is it that bios files always come with 2 bins, such as - "4982.06.bin" AND "4982.67.bin". Which should you select with X2 bios manager when making a bios image?

    Thanks,

    D.

it all depends on the way you want your hard drive partitioned. i think .67 if for a large f partion and .06 is for for some on F and the rest on G. i use the .67 file to flash my chip and no prob. did you already get your chip? just wanted to know?

My chip shipped today, so I should have it by this weekend. So I will use the .67 since I plan to partiton my drive the way you did. I am making my bios and slayer autoinstaller cd-rw disks ahead of time.

    Thanks.

    Daskins,

Would you mind discussing the difference between doing the slayer installation option 3-1 vs. 3-2? the tutorial doesn't really discuss too much about it, and I wanted to know what the pros and cons are.

    Thanks,

    D.

3-1) Rebuild v1.X Large HD – *C* this basically install all of the apps on the C partiton of the hard drive

    while

3-2) Rebuild v1.X Large HD – *F* installs all of the apps on the F partition of the drive

it all depends on what you wanna do. i chose the 3-2 option though

Close call.. 4983 BIOS just came out...

"We were testing some X3 code in the 4982 bios and there was a
part of our loader sequence that was not fully compatible with the
X2 Lite mod. Therefore 4982 only worked on X2 Lite if you used it
as a 1MB bios or on the second 512k bank of the mod. Users could
not load XBE's from their hacked dashboard due to this bug - it's
    now been fixed."

Guess I will use 4983 then!

So I'll just do what you did then for the install method (3-2)...

    Thanks!

talk about real close call. I was just reading some other threads that had nothing to do with with re-flashing your x2 lite+ and actually just finished burning the CD with the previous 4982 BIOs. good thing i read this thread too.

Oh well I got a new toaster for my desk but at least it saved me a major headache with my xbox.

yeah of course you will. The Slayer's disc install Evox which is what allows you to FTp to your xbox and allows you to ftp other apps and emulator. so yes you will be able to install emu's on your box after using the slayer's disc
