    @Greensman,
    Sounds like you was at my house last Halloween. Sorry about them tearing your leg off, they are used to the local kids tossing them the treat before they step onto the porch.

    That's one of the included links in the message that comes up, if jan's link failed to cause the BSOD. Shows the hole is still there in Outlook Express. Glad to hear you've got software to stop the exploit without the need to reboot. I suspect most people still don't.

    Neither link forked with my system...I don't know if I was brave or stupid for trying to open them in the first place.

    Sounds like you're well protected. The bug for Outlook Express is still there on my system. The AV ware blocks the exploit though. Funny, I x(ed) out the link and now the link sends users to a X (porn) site. That was an accident.

    I was tempted to try the link, but was not confident I could do a reinstall of my operating system myself. Much less find all the program discs and downloads I have. It's all backed up but it was a nightmare when I got this XP machine and not much of my software worked with it.

    @pacman

    I got the pornsite, so I'm guessing this wasn't the link intended to do harm.

    I PMed the link to you. No need to put it back on the site. It's a nuisance for most systems.

    Garmoon
    ddp and Billybob got through it. No lasting aftereffects and the biggest problem would be turning off and restarting the PC if the AV ware fails.

    I bet you bookmarked it tho!!! hehehe. :p

    btw I was stupid enough to click on the original link too. Didn't lock down or anything but I quickly shut down firefox and OE.... Went into "task manager" and had over 150 processes running. Shut them down and then restarted to make sure everything was "ok". LOL. Big nuisance I'm saying. :p

    I agree, they shouldn't be posted. That's why I went back and rendered the links useless that referenced the hackers site Janrocks linked to (all except the accidental link to a porn site). I guess the X rated site might do some damage. LOL Seriously though, if such a link is posted for any reason, it should have a warning like ddp said. Ireland gave good advice, don't click links unless you know where they're going. When in doubt use Properties to check the link.
