    It was gear who got me started here at AD. We were in Receivers forum and laughing so hard we took it to the safety valve and I've been here since. Great great guy. Pity he took "addict" quite so literally. Still, it was a pleasure to have known him. I hope you gave him and his loved ones all our best wishes?

    GOOD AFTERNOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope everyone out there is as stoked as I am... YES I AM YELLING...over excited due to finally figuring out my Capacitance Reqirements for Induction equations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Cheers!!!!!!! Beers for all!!!!!!!!!! Pick your vice and play!!!!!!

    After hours/days of not sleeping and mulling this over in my brain here is my guide for anyone who cares about producing their own power via induction generation.

    BTW - the answer for me was 42! I should have known. We all learned that from The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Galaxy years and years ago.

    Find Capacitance Required to Excite Induction Generator.
    (Finding Capatance Requirements for Dummies)

    Motor Information: (We are using 230V@5amps for the ex.)
    Motor can be wired using Star or Delta schematic.

    HP 1.5
    kW 1.15
    VAC 230/460(V)
    Amps 5/2.5 (I)
    Freq. 60hz
    Full Load Eff 75.5
    Power Factor .68

    A. First Find Apparent Power (S)VA
    S=√3VI
    S=√3*230*5
    S=1992VA

    Then Find Apparent Power per phase (Sphase)VA
    Sphase = V/√3*I
    Sphase = 230/√3*5
    Sphase = 664VA

    B. Find Real Power (P)
    P=Scosφ
    P=S*(Power Rating of Engine)
    P=1992*.68
    P=1355

    C. Find Reactive Power (Q)VAR
    Q=(√S²-P²)
    Q=(√1992²-1335²)
    Q=1460VAR

    Then find Reactive Power per Phase (Qphase)VAR
    Qphase=Q/3
    Qphase=487VAR

    D. Find Voltage and Current per Phase (Vphase)&(Iphase)

    Find Voltage per Phase (Vphase)V STAR SCHEME
    Vphase=Vline/√3
    Vline/√3=230/√3
    Vline=133V

    Find Voltage per Phase (Vphase)V DELTA SCHEME
    Vphase=Vline
    Vline=230V
    Vphase=230V

    Find Current per Phase (Iphase)A STAR SCHEME
    Iphase=Qphase/Vphase
    Iphase=487/133
    Iphase=3.66A

    Find Current per Phase (Iphase)A DELTA SCHEME
    Iphase=Qphase/Vphase
    Iphase=230/133
    Iphase=2.11A

    E. Calculate Capacitance Required via STAR wiring scheme (C)µ

    C=Iphase/(2π*f*V)
    C=3.66/(2π*60*230)
    C=.000042
    C= 42µ

    Calculate Capacitance Required via DELTA wiring scheme (C)µ

    C=Iphase/(2π*f*V)
    C=2.11/(2π*60*230)
    C=.000024
    C= 24µ

    @cincyrob ... Nonsense; It's nice to see someone so bright and cheery. Everyone seems so grim and serious at the office today. I think its the threat of snow. I don't know why but people go nuts over the mere threat of snow here and give them an inch or two and the city is ready to shut down. It doesn't snow a lot in Philly but it's not a rare event either; you think people would be somewhat use to it. As for me, I'm like a kid in the snow.

    Have a great day cincyrob and everyone!

    @Cincyrob ... Lord, that brings back nice memories. I grew up in Quebec and New England so I did a great deal of playing in the snow ... even use to go hiking and camping in it before neck and back problems. Those are your boys? I saw the photos in your profile; nice family...your a lucky guy!

    Had a talk with gear last night about Saw 3...good to hear from the ole boy.

    I wish we got snow here in the south...I miss 4 full seasons, here it's either too hot or just not cold enough.

    Talking of snow, yesterday from 4am ish onwards it snowed! Quite a lot (about an inch) for us too. Melted by lunchtime, but hey, we got snow ;-)

    Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone:

    @cincyrob - No silly E=bflat...bass player sorry...had to crack the dud. Your crew looks SO SO happy and handsome in the snow! Very much like my boys. Snow is still great fun for our whole family.

    @gerry1 - Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Tut exhibit. Lucky you. I saw it in the fourth grade when it came to DC for the first time. My mom was a docent at the National Gallery so we got the docent's tour. Boy was it cool. Have fun! Give us a report. It seems like we do indeed have similar backgrounds...(via Kinza's thread) I can totally dig why you hated regular nursing after paramedic/medic duties!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    @ireland - THANK YOU for the heads up on the anyDVD beta update. Fixed a few of my major issues. I am very sorry we are not the old timer's, but I hope that we can begin to provide some warmth! I chose AD because of the respectful, mostly polite, RELEVANT replies to questions. And some cool people too!

    @adriana - Hi You! Did the spysweeper issue resolve? Did you have to totally remove it or were you able to keep it with it off? The AnyDVD beta update fixed that first Angel disk...I post to that thread later.

    Have a good day everyone!

    Edited for lousy spelling & nonsensical sentence structure.

    Great BIG TEXAS morning to all!!

    Nice to see someone so refreshing and kind post anywhere. kitty66 that's at you. lol.

    cincyrob gotta love that snow when your kids have that much fun. lol. Mine helped me finish cleaning off the driveway yesterday. It's been so cold here (that's for here) that the ice one the drive finally melted so we could shovel it off.

    Gerry1 where is the morning meal, you brought some the other day and I think it's your turn again.

    ireland I never thanked you for the quadruple burger, THANKS it was good. hhhhhhmmmm.

    Everyone enjoy their Friday and have a great weekend. :)

    Oh! almost forgot...

    aabbccdd IT'S time for another collage of Adriana or at least something different. I don't mind the same woman but she's got to change clothes every once in a while. LOL.

    Good Morning Everyone!

    Bagels and gourmet coffee on me! Come on in and warm up by the woodstove.

    @greensman - Why thanks! We still have snow here too, it has been so cold that it has lasted 3 weeks now! Elevation helps.

    Hope everyone is having a wonderful winter day. For those of you at work...Viva Friday!

    Afternoon here rav009, just thought I'd throw that in. lol. Looked at XS the other day and that looks like a cool community. Did I here right? Lord S. is Tokijin? Just wondering, he helped me out here a few times and I may get some more help from him or you if you can stand it. lol.
