Well, the compulsory subject were english (lang and lit), maths and then at least double science.. however, i'm in set 'A' (top gcse set) for science, so I have to do triple science, which or double award plus some more. Lol.

And, we were allowed to chose 4 subject after that; I chose ICT, Business, History and French. I'm studying music after school for about 45 mins after school once a week, as I'm a decent musician already (I play the cornet @ grade 6), so taking gcse music as part of my timetable would be pointless and a waste of my time... Lol

    :)

    Ripper.

They did it slightly different at our school then.

I was asked to take triple science (the one where u have an individual GCSE for each), sent me a letter and all sorts, but i didnt have the space on my timetable nor the commitment.

    So i refused.
And what they've done is, as the triple science people have it at different times, they have just done the ability sets for double and triple.

Im in the top set for double award, but theres also a top set for triple award. Theres no difference in ability, just different GCSE's.

Ah right. See, they only offered the triple science to the top people in my year. Well, they didn't offer it...

The way my school do things before GCSEs is that the years are split into two halves "B" and "G" (Blue and Gold, the school colours). If you're in the top half of your science classes @ the end of year 9, then you gte put into top set for GCSE and do triple science.

I have to agree with the above advice ^ Btw nice one Billy, A* on the ICT exam with no revision is great! When I did it I found it was an easier exam too, my cousins doing his GCSE's atm so I was looking over his past papers and stuff, I can't believe ICT exams are now multiple choice lol. He's predicted all A*'s I think.

As for my age, I did my GCSE's a while ago. But I'm not that old :p

Cool choices, at GCSE level everyone does individual sciences don't they? Every exam board I can think of does it anyway. Your lucky your doing both English subjects in one course, when I did it if you got high mark on your English exam at the end of year 10 you were put into the Lit group, that means you have 1 year on lang and 1 year on lit, which is a lot harder because you have to remember all the year 10 stuff without going over it along with the final year stuff, plus you had to go to do it after school. Was an amazing laugh though.

Good luck on your exams you two!

    *Goes off to finish work*

    good morning,

cutting grass is a good tip on making money..

we in our town we have a grass cutting gang of teenagers about 20.
and they work a 5 day week in the summer, for 3 or 5 hours a day..
we all use there services and instead of a grass cutting company.they make good money..some make as much as 400 a week..

School exam talk has nothing to do with old-timers ... I wish all young muppets the best when they're taken but irrelevence is a word that best describes such subject matter in this (the wrong) thread :)

Afternoon or evening as it now is .. btw (lol)

As for seasonal jobs , tis okay in this sunny weather but come winter it all evens itself out (have done seasonal work myself).

Hey herbs. Sorry about the whole off topic thing. I'll keep shut now.
But after all, the previous thread title (A thread for all topics including Where Did All The Old Timers Go ? Also Say A Good Morning Or Afternoon Or A Good Evening Or A Good Night Thread. Plus the occasional joke, interesting trivia and interesting tech happenings.) did suggest room for irrelvent chit chat - hence the change, i should imagine.

renaming the thread to just Reply to thread: Where Did All The Old Timers Go

do ye know its a fact there only a handfull of old timers are left.
    to post in this thread..
the way i had it set up at least the thread was being used by all members..to say a good morning or good night..instead of starting a new thread or threads.

Deja vu all over again? Aren't they kinda the same thing? That means double deja vu! [sarcasm]OMFG!!![/sarcasm] ;-)

@ireland: We have a thread for bitching, we have a thread for tech news. The only thing we dont have an individual thread for is trivia, but that's ok, cos everyone just posts that in here anyway.

As you say, there aren't that many "old timers" around, so doesn't that make this thread (as it was originally intended for) redundant?

And IMO, if anyone started a thread new just to say morning or goodnight to another member, they need to be shot. (Nothing wrong with posting it here as is)

Maybe this thread should become the "trivia, say hello and anything else you care to talk about" thread .

Change the rules as you go to CYA or fit the situation.

    Good afternoon.
