Well after reading Solumn30 Post, I decided to try the 21 day trial of clone2, to see if this would run on my 640B drive, since he said it worked on his. I have installed & uninstalled 3 times now, everytime I go to use it, it says OH NO...your 21 day trial has expired...Good God it hasn't even been 21 minutes. any suggestions? it driving me crazy....
Did you do a free trial of Clone before? If so, the new trial version won't work. It's only when they make a major change that the free trials start over. I went back to your original post and noted that your major problem was the ejection of the disk. I assume you mean the software command ejection. Doesn't your burner have a manual eject button? If so, does that not work?
Hi Laddyboy. No I never tried the free version, until last night...and everytime I went to use it it said "oh no your trial time has ended" tried reinstalling and uninstalling it and it still said this. I don't know why because I never had used any trial version. My problem with the purchased one, at the end of the program there is an eject button u click on, but with my drive there is no eject button. yes I have a eject button on my drive, but it won't eject the disc using clone. I have to physically shut down the computer to get the disc out. any ideas why I can't load the trial version? thanks.
Maybe it won't load because you have an older purchased version installed. Did you have an older version. I got that impression from your initial posts for some reason. You could try contacting Slysoft. They are usually pretty responsive. I have no idea where any of the registration info is stored by Clone. Can you quit the program? And then eject the disk? Can you quit the program in Task Manager?
Hi Laddyboy. The other version I had, was removed a long time ago about 6 months. No I cannot quit the program and use the eject button, it completely freezed up. On the slysoft contact info, they lists other sources to contact like Afterdawn, they don't take care of the problems themselves. Maybe theres some reminents of the older one, but didn't u say if there were any updates I'd be able to use the 21 trial? There would of had to been updates by now. this is wierd. I did load the 21 day trial of ANYDVD first...that worked fine..and the 21 day trial of clone downloaded fine, but using it.....
Even when you uninstall the trial, there is a file somewhere that says you've already used it (the trial). In my experience with AnyDVD, they only allow free trials again for a user when there is something major that they've done to the program and that hasn't happened in a while that I'm aware of. AnyDVD seemed to allow trials as the main version number changed from 3 to 4 to 5 but that was it. Otherwise they may as well give the program away for free since someone could just continue to download freebies. If you like Clone, why not just upgrade to the newest version? They did have a holiday discount with using "afterdawn" in the coupon/discount box. I don't know whether it's still available or not. If you get a reduced price when using the code then it's still active. They also have a discount on the combined purchase of AnyDVD and CloneDVD as well. I always recommend AnyDVD to everyone. It's well worth the money and has free updates for life. I've never had the need for Clone. Most around here get by on AnyDVD, DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink based on the posts.
Hi Laddyboy: I have no problem purchasing the program, but I wanted to see if it would work first. I don't want to be stuck for $$$$ if I can't use the program with this drive. Someone else on this thread said they have the same drive & it worked for them, so I thought I'd try it again. I had already planned to purchase it, when I got my external drive.
Someone else in another thread was having the same problem with CloneDVD. He had an expired version and couldn't get the paid registration key to work with the expired version. I wonder if there's something afoot with the program that causing the problem. Outside of reformating your hard drive, I don't know what to tell you. I know there are hacker ways around this but we don't countenance those types of things in these forums.
Well I look at it this way. If you were going to buy and use AnyDVD and CloneDVD with your new drive. Then why not go ahead and purchase it. If it doesn't work with your current drive after the upgrades. Then it mostly likely will work with your new drive. So I don't see where you have much to lose. If it works with you current drive you just saved yourself from buying a new drive. BTW, I just purchased CloneDVD and AnyDVD day before yesterday and the promotion code was still going on. Just enter afterdawn in the discount code box and save 10 bucks
