Hi, I am having difficulty finding the correct DVDs that are compatible with my DVD burner (matshitadvd SW-9581), I think it is 1X so does that mean I require 1X DVD-R? Any recommendations as to the media that I may rquire & where to get the best deals. I am looking for something that will play on the SONY DVP NS700V.

    Thanks, much appreciated.

Hmm, I think I have that standalone. They seem to take just about anything. Unless the disc is a coaster it'll play it. The specs (if that is indeed the player I have) says it takes all formats. I have yet to try a dvd-rw on it though.

Double check the specs for that stand alone. Not quite sure if I have the 700 or the 750 (if there is such a thing) as I don't have it in front of me at the mo.

Check out www.dvdrhelp.com - see dvd comptibilty section for your player.

Yes, if you have a 1x burner, then EVEN if you purchased 4x dvd's, it would only burn at 1x.
    (see recommendations from manufacturer)

However, I would expect that there is a firmware update available to convert your burner to a higher burning speed....
(upgrades can be risky - some are irreversible)

Don't let that put you off doing it though - just a warning......

Higher speed burning can result in bad burns, so it is always recommended to burn at a slow speed, I burn at 2x, depending on the size that I am burning - if it is large then I burn at 1x to eliminate possibility of bad burns - coasters.

I use Ritek brand either G03 or G04 - very good stable playback....

I am in the UK and I use www.blankdiscshop.co.uk for all my media purchases.......

    Hope this helps.......
